Fun With Photos and Stamping
Great for your Scrapbook or Cards!

Attending the SW Memory Expo in Phoenix, a couple of weeks ago,
inspired me to try my hand at Photo Stuff.
The cards below are a result of that exploring.

Evo's Lily Pads

Materials Used:
1. 5 x 7 Large Rectangle EvoTemplate
2. Set/6 Oval EvoTemplates
3. Rub Ons
4. Text-weight black paper
(for Cards, I would use Black Cardstock for the basic card itself)
5. 2 Photos... One close-up, One at distance
6. Craft Knife
7. Glue Stick
8. Cutting Mat
Any of you familiar with our Rubber Die Plate #5 will probably recognize the lily pads in this photo.
They were the inspiration for our lily pad stamp images.

Starting with the bottom layer... I cut around the large 5" x 7" Rectangle Template.
I then cut the "distance" photo in half, lined each piece up with side edges and centered top to bottom.

I cut a 4" wide plain paper mask using the grid markings on the cutting mat and centered top to bottom. Picking colors from the water in the close-up photo, I rubbed the Rub Ons to the edges of top and bottom. This left the 1/4" black strip above and below the distance photo.

Using the 3 largest Oval Templates, I cut ovals from the black paper, leaving the largest and the 3rd oval black and coloring the second one with the same Rub Ons I used on the top and bottom of the Large Rectangle.

I used the 4th Oval Templates to select and cut around the close-up lily pads.

I centered the largest oval, but slid the other 3 toward the bottom, rather than center them. Don't know why... it just felt good to do that.

I'm thinking of adding a stamped Froggie. I think that would feel good, too. :}>

Brother David's Deer
Materials used:
Same basic materials + Set/7 Rectangle EvoTemplates+ Set/6 Rectangle Betweenies+ Memories Electric Rainbow pad + stipple brush.

I zeroed in on the deer by stippling around the Oval Templates to frame them, using a warm color to accentuate the greens. The over-all size is 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"... the size of the largest Rectangle in the set of 7 Rectangles. The 2nd largest layer is cut around the largest Betweenie Rectangle, which leaves 1/8" area of black showing. Again, I chose Rub Ons to color this 2nd layer to blend with the colors in the trees and shadows behind the deer.
What type of trees, you ask? Why, Florida Orange trees, of course! :}>

Rare Daytona Beach Palmetto Bird
Materials used: Same Materials + Black Document Ink Pad + dark green cardstock + Plate #7A Snowy Egret

This was truly a fun thing. I took the Snowy Egret Mr Evo had stamped on and cut out of a photo of Palmetto bushes. I layered him on the Daytona Beach photo and with a craft knife, I scratched out some white highlights.

Now, as soon I can find Mr Evo's creation, using the original Palmetto photo, I'll post that here, too. (Grumble, grumble... I know I saw it somewhere...)

Whoa! I found it! And of course in the place I'd already looked 10 times. Never have understood how that happens. :{/
Mr Evo's Palmetto Bird
What he did was... stamp the Snowy Egret on the photo with Black Document Ink, then cut it out of the photo with a craft knife. Then he stamped the same Egret on white paper and glued it in place behind the photo. I was kind of impressed. My fingers are itching, though, to color the bird in with colored pencil. So far, I've restrained myself...after all it's his creation, not mine...mumble, mumble.

David's ET Buddy
Materials used: Same + Plate #52 ET+Plate #3 palmettos+Plate #5 trees+white paper.
What we have here is one of those photos that you're never sure how or why it got taken in the first place. Over-exposed ... shows a street crosswalk and trees in the background. I stamped trees in the background, ET on the crosswalk and Palmettos in the foreground...used a green metallic pen to apply some green... cut a reverse mask for ET and stippled some brown ink onto him. Rub Ons were applied to white paper for the 2nd layer.

Daytona Beach Fiddler
Stamped fiddler in black and scratched out some white highlights. One of the things I like about stamping on photos is that you see the photo through the stamped image and can get some really ephemeral looks. I've included the rest of the photo here that I cut away from the image ... not sure yet just how I'll finish this off. Hmmm, may need a camel peering over the horizon. Yeah, that's what it needs!
I hope you've enjoyed these as much as I did doing them and putting them up on a web page ... if not... go stamp some photos! You'll love it!
